Texas: A 13-year-old girl who was abducted for sex trade in Texas, America, was miraculously rescued. A 61-year-old man was arrested by the police in the incident. While being transported in a car, the girl was saved by the intervention of local residents who came as a ‘good Samaritan’.
61-year-old Steven Sablan forcibly took a girl walking down the street in San Antonio at gunpoint. During the trip, the 13-year-old girl tells the suspect that she left home hoping to visit a friend in Australia. Sablan drove the car through several states, saying he would take the girl on a ship to Australia with the aim of exploiting her. Meanwhile, the girl was sexually assaulted repeatedly, police said.
The girl was rescued after three days. While driving to California, the defendant stopped the car and went to a laundromat to wash his clothes. To this end, the girl had written ‘Help Me’ on a piece of paper and held it up from inside the car. Local residents who saw this through the car door paved the way for the rescue of the frightened girl. One of them called 911 and the police arrived and rescued the girl from the car. Police arrested Steven Sablan of Cleburne, Texas.
US in California Chelsea Norell, deputy chief of the attorney’s office’s violence and organized crime unit, described the local man as a ‘good Samaritan’. Chelsea said the girl could not have been rescued without the intervention of a good Samaritan.
Francesilla Isaac, who came to the laundry at the time of the incident, said that the girl’s pitiful expression indicated that she wanted to help her.
The girl is now in the custody of the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services. The FBI took over the investigation of the case.
The US Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles has indicted the suspect in federal court on charges of kidnapping a minor with the intent to use him for the sex trade.
