13-year-old Cuban boy murdered his mother while she was sleeping

Miami-Dade County authorities are investigating a puzzling case in which a boy of Cuban origin stabbed his own mother to death in the city of Hialeah.

According to Eddie Rodríguez, spokesperson for the city police, around 11:30 pm on Thursday, October 12, they received a call from the 13-year-old minor, who confessed to having murdered his mother.

The authorities arrived at 211 West 79th Street, where they found the lifeless body of a woman in the bedroom of the house, next to a crib where a newborn baby was sleeping.

Neighbors identified the victim as Irina García, 39 years old, who worked in a beauty salon in Hialeah and had recently given birth. According to local media, her minor attacked her while she was sleeping.

For its part, the baby, only 14 days old, was found unharmed on the side of the bed in which her mother was murdered by the child. The baby’s father is a man of Cuban origin who works as a truck driver and was driving home at the time of the incident.

Residents of the area stated that they were devastated and surprised by the news, as they claim that such an event had never occurred in the neighborhood. Likewise, co-workers of her deceased lamented her death, describing her as a good person.

“I am surprised, shocked and angry. I talked to him many times and told him love yourself and he always said, ‘OK,’” she added.

According to the statements of his partner and other close friends, the minor never showed violent tendencies, which is why his actions surprised everyone who knows him.

According to the police report, the minor would have sent photographs of his mother’s body to one of his classmates after committing the crime.

For now, the police continue to investigate the case, since the minor has not revealed the reasons why he committed such an act. Now, he remains in custody and faces murder charges.
