REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG – West Java Regional Health Service (Dinkes) revealed 13 confirmed cases monkey trout appearing throughout 2023-2024. These issues arise as a result of unsafe or abusive sexual behavior.

“There are 13 confirmed cases (monkeypox), in 2023-2024,” said the Head of Disease Prevention and Control at the West Java Health Office, Dr. Rochady, when it was confirmed, Tuesday (27/8/2024).

Rochady said contagion Mpox or monkeypox in West Java is usually found in patients who have a history of unsafe or cheating sexual relationships. Such as having more than one intimate partner and disorders such as MSM (men having sex with men) aka homosexuality.

Rochady said the common Mpox symptoms to watch out for are fever, headache, swollen lymph nodes, fatigue, muscle pain and a skin rash that starts on the face and then spreads to other parts of the body. He said effective preventive measures include maintaining personal hygiene, washing hands frequently with soap and running water, avoiding direct contact with sick people, especially those with skin rashes. And avoid sharing personal items such as towels, clothes or eating utensils.

“Keep a physical distance, especially with people who show symptoms. Get vaccinated if available, the Mpox vaccine can provide protection,” he said.

Rochady said that the West Java Health Office has been successful in identifying the causes of Mpox transmission, namely direct contact with the skin rash of an infected person, contact with materials contaminated with body fluids of an infected person and spread through sex. He said that the West Java Regional Health Service carried out various educational efforts, namely campaigns through social media and mass media, community outreach, distribution of leaflets and posters, collaboration with educational institutions and communities.

If people are found to be experiencing Mpox symptoms, Rochady said treating Mpox cases in remote areas usually involves reporting cases to local health workers, taking samples for laboratory examination, isolating patients, providing supportive treatment, tracing close contacts.
