“Riga” reported on Monday that many footballers had a high body temperature, so a total of 52 Covid-19 tests were performed at the club. The first tests revealed 16 positive cases, of which 14 were for footballers.
On Thursday, tests were performed on 79 club-related individuals who had not previously been diagnosed with Covid-19 infection. According to the club on Friday night, the last Covid-19 tests found 13 more infected people, two of whom are doctors, five coaches and one footballer. The other five are contacts or family members.
After positive cases of Covid-19 were detected in the “Riga” club, several RFS footballers were recognized as contact persons. The second team of the capital also had positive cases of Covid-19 and according to the club, three footballers have been infected.
At the meeting of the Latvian Football Super League on Monday, a majority decision was made to support the proposal not to continue the Optibet Latvian Football Super League season due to the difficult situation of Covid-19, but this proposal was not adopted by the LFF on Monday.
