Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Cases of alleged criminal acts of corruption and money laundering (tipikor-TPPU) PT Asuransi Jiwasraya (Persero) involving 13 investment manager companies (MI) will begin trial at the Central Jakarta District Court (PN).
In his official statement, Hotman Paris Hutapea, from the Lawyers Office of Hotman Paris & Partners, stated that the 13 MI companies managing the mutual funds will begin trial as corporate defendants at the Central Jakarta District Court.
The trial was held on Monday (31/5/2021) starting at 8.30 am, at the Corruption Court of the Central Jakarta District Court, Jalan Bungur Besar Raya number 24 Gunung Sahari Selatan, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.
On that occasion, the veteran lawyer who has become a public figure will act as a defender/lawyer of one of the 13 MI companies, without mentioning their names.
“Dr. Hotman Paris Hutapea SH, M.Hum will act as a defender of one of the mutual fund companies or MI,” said Hotman Paris in a short message to CNBC Indonesia, Sunday (30/5/2021).
Previously, in February 2021, the P-16 Prosecutor Team, namely the Directorate of Prosecution of the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes at the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) stated that the case files for the 13 MI cases had been declared complete.
The 13 corporate suspects suspected of causing state losses of up to Rp 12.15 trillion at Jiwasraya include PT DMI/PAC, PT OMI, PT PPI, PT MDI/MCM, PT PAM, PT MAM, PT MAM, PT GAPC, PT JCAM, PT PAAM, PT CC, PT TFII, and PT SAM.
The Head of the Attorney General’s Legal Information Center, Leonard Eben Ezer Simanjuntak, through his official statement, as quoted by CNBC Indonesia, then explained the role of the suspects.
The suspects are considered to have collaborated with Joko Hartono Tirto as an affiliated party with Heru Hidayat who was approved by Hendrisman Rahim as the Managing Director of Jiwasraya, Hary Prasetyo as Finance Director of Jiwasraya, Syahmirwan as General Manager of Production and Finance of Jiwasraya.
They then formed a special mutual fund product for Jiwasraya, which in the implementation of the management of the financial instruments underlying Jiwasraya’s mutual funds can be controlled by Joko Hartono Tirto as Heru Hidayat’s affiliated party. The names mentioned have already been sentenced by the Central Jakarta District Court in the case of corruption and the Jiwasraya TPPU.
