13 MI Suspect Jiwasraya, Attorney General: Public Don’t Panic

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin appealed to mutual fund owners of the 13 investment manager companies named as suspects so that they do not need to worry. The 13 investment manager companies have become corporate suspects in the alleged corruption case of PT Asuransi Jiwasraya.

Burhanuddin said that despite being a suspect, the 13 companies would continue to operate and be able to carry out their business activities on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX).

“We only carry out legal proceedings related to mutual fund management and investment originating from Jiwasraya’s financial management,” Burhanuddin said through a written statement on Sunday, June 28, 2020.

According to Burhanuddin, that each mutual fund portfolio managed by investment managers, has been managed separately between mutual fund products and other mutual funds.

As a result, if there are problems in a mutual fund product it will not necessarily affect other mutual fund products managed by the same investment manager.

So, said Burhanuddin, as long as the other mutual fund products managed by the 13 investment manager companies have nothing to do with Jiwasraya’s financial management, customers are advised not to worry about their investments.

“Therefore mutual fund customers need not worry about their investment in investment managers,” said Burhanuddin.

On June 25, 2020, the Attorney General’s Office named 13 investment managers and FH as Deputy Commissioner for Capital Market Supervision II for the 2017-2022 Financial Services Authority (OJK) period as suspects.

The 13 corporations are PT Dana Wibawa Investment Management, PT Oso Investment Management, PT Pinekel Persada Investment, PT Millenium Danatama, PT Prospera Asset Management, PT MNC Asset Management, PT Maybank Aset Management, PT GAP Capital, PT Jasa Capital Asset Management , PT Corvina Capital, PT Iserfan Investama, PT Sinar Mas Asset Management and PT Pool Advista Management.
