A communiqué issued by the Central Office for Judicial Research stated that the arrested persons ranged between 19 and 49 years of age.

The same communication highlighted that the Public Prosecution in charge of terrorism and extremism cases directly supervised intervention procedures and the arrest of suspected persons.

The source pointed out that the arrest of those concerned took place within the framework of a series of security operations that included Berkane, Casablanca, Beni Mellal, Mohammedia, Khenifra, Temara, Tiflet, Tangiers, Ksar Kebir and Rissani.

The communication continued, that the inspections that were carried out in the homes of the detainees resulted in the seizure of many digital equipment and supports that will be subject to the necessary technical expertise, and written publications that include speeches by extremist ideologues and publications permitting suicide operations and inciting violence.

The communication added that the investigations revealed that some of the suspects managed to forge suspicious relationships with terrorists outside Morocco, with the aim of coordinating to join one of the branches of the Islamic State, especially in the Sahel and Sahara region.
