TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – A number of dangerous applications were found inside Android phone. Security researchers have warned against Android apps that can take over your smartphone.
The McAfee Mobile Research Team has released a list of 13 apps with so-called Android backdoors Xamalicious. According to the company, Android devices can be infected in two stages.
First, the application tries to obtain accessibility rights by social engineering and then communicates with the command and control server to evaluate whether to download the second stage payload or not.
“If a second payload is downloaded and installed, it takes full control of the device and has the potential to commit financially motivated fraudulent acts such as clicking on ads without the user’s permission,” according to the company’s report quoted from Gatgets Now.
According to the company, the malware-infected app uses “social engineering” to gain accessibility privileges that allow users’ devices to communicate with command-and-control servers without the device owner’s knowledge.

When it does, a second payload is downloaded to the phone that will take full control of the device and potentially perform fraudulent actions such as clicking on ads, installing apps, and other financially motivated actions without the user’s consent.
