(ABM FN-Dow Jones) The United States Food and Drug Administration reported 124 deaths between April 2021 and April this year that may be related to Philips’ sleep apnea devices. This was reported by the regulator last week.

A total of 21,000 medical incidents were reported to the FDA by doctors and patients, the FDA said.

The DreamStation devices contain a foam to muffle the noise of the machines. Small particles of it may be emitted, which can irritate the respiratory tract. The released gases can also be toxic or possibly even cause cancer.

In Q1 earnings last month, Philips reported having replaced or repaired 2.2 million ventilators.
