Santander Music closed its edition yesterday, Saturday, August 6, still preparing for its last date in 2022, with the Leiva concert as part of the “When you bite your lip” tour that will put the finishing touch to this twelfth edition tonight . This classic festival by the sea with three days of concerts or vermouth sessions has once again populated the Cantabrian capital of independent sound for three days.
As usual, other events that were part of this year’s program included the exhibition at the Botín Center by Arantxa Recio, author of the poster for this edition of Santander Music, or the creation of a collective mural. A space that has also hosted the vermouth session on Saturday August 6, under the pachinko of this art center, which once again has turned to Santander Music.
The assistance of this edition of the concerts in the Campa de la Magdalena venue, has had 1,500 visitors on Thursday, with heavy rain at the time of opening doors. An attendance that has increased considerably with 4,000 attendees on the night of Friday, August 5, and 6,500 on the closing day on August 6, the day with the highest number of people. A total of approximately 12,000 attendees at Santander Music 2022 from Thursday to Saturday, facing today for the first time in its history a fourth day.
The inauguration of Santander Music 2022 began on Thursday, August 4 with the urban sound of Deva, a Cantabrian promise who was delighted to play at home. Mentaguay took over and despite the rain, attendees enjoyed the first main course of the night to the fullest, accompanied by dancers and even a Pole Dance show. Manucort preceded the second stellar performance, with the RVFV collective. Flaca has been in charge of closing this first day.
The second day of Santander Music kicked off with Grande Amore performing live on stage. The intimate live show by Guitarricadelafuente broke the ice on this second night, followed by rock by The Gulps. One of the most popular concerts was that of Galician Xoel López, which gave way to Rocío Saiz’s entertaining live performance, leading a female band as he praised during his performance. Alizzz’s show would make the whole Campa dance, which said goodbye to this second day with the festive live show by Varry Brava, and the dj set by Don Gonzalo.
The third and last day has been the most massive of this edition since the early hours and with finally splendid weather to enjoy the concerts starting with the tandem formed by Anni B Sweet and Los Estanques, who have opened the day. León Benavente has welcomed the first full with his powerful show. Glasio has provided the international ingredient with a live show and various sets. Lori Meyers and Delaporte from Granada have offered two spectacular consecutive live shows. The day ended with the staging of the Navarrese El Columpio Asesino.
A total of eighteen bands and more than four DJs have passed through Santander Music 2022, distributed among the concerts and sessions that have taken place on the festival site as well as in the vermouth session in collaboration with the Botín Center, with The Gulps and Don Gonzalo.
The festival has also had around 350 direct hires involved in the production of the festival, 90% of which come from the community of Cantabria. On this eleventh anniversary, the festival has had about eighty accredited journalists, corresponding to fifty media outlets.
