The 72-year-old victim was a disabled man living in a care home. A few days before the fatal robbery, he bumped into the female co-suspect, they kept in touch.
The woman and her partner, the 53-year-old man, visited the victim because they thought there was a lot of money to be found. The convicted man stabbed the victim several times in the stomach, neck and head and hit him with a metal pipe. The woman closed the curtain and did nothing to prevent the fatal beatings. Then they left the victim in a worrying condition, the court said. He later died in hospital.
On the way out, the main suspect knocked over the neighbor who came to see what was happening. The woman broke her arm in the process. The man has to pay her 1000 euros in compensation.
Reduction of punishment
The court in Den Bosch has lowered the prison sentence from 15 years to 12 years, because of the perpetrator’s reduced accountability. Before the appeal he was examined by a psychologist and psychiatrist. According to them, there is an antisocial personality disorder with psychopathic and narcissistic traits. “The personality disorder will be a permanent risk for recidivism.” That is why compulsory hospitalization was recommended.
The man himself is against tbs with compulsory nursing, because he has already been ordered to do so. However, the court considers the interests of society to be greater than the personal interests of the accused.
