Some Plovdiv children ask the good old man to bring them a pet – a kitten, a dog and even a pony
A 12-year-old Mitko from Plovdiv wrote a short but touching letter to Santa. It is one of more than 500 that the children have so far sent to the Central Post Office to the white-bearded old man. Some have compiled long lists of gift instructions – for each of the family, not just the little ones. Others order only for themselves.
However, Mitko has only one request – to reunite his family.
“Santa, I don’t know if you remember me. I hope I listened a lot this year. I have only one wish – to be the whole family on the holiday “, the boy insists.
“Probably some of the child’s relatives or parents work abroad and are separated. Such letters are very touching. “Sometimes it is difficult not to be moved by children’s desires,” Diana Rancheva, head of the Marketing Department at the Bulgarian Posts TD in Plovdiv, told 24 Chassa.
Since 2000, she has been something of an intermediary between the good old man and the children who send him letters. Every day they pile up and Rancheva expects to swell by 1200-1300 by Christmas.
Employees at the post office guarantee to the little ones that each of them, who has written his envelope in Bulgarian and has put a stamp of 65 stotinki,
will receive personal
answer from
the good old man
Those addressed abroad will be sent to Lapland. And the most beautifully decorated letter will be awarded.
One of the most touching letters Rancheva remembers is from a girl who says the last two years have been the worst in his life because of the covidity and restrictions.
“Santa has a team of helpers and grown up dwarves in Plovdiv. You know he’s a wizard and can do anything. And we are a serious institution and correspondence is not a joke “, laughs Rancheva. She adds that this is one of her most enjoyable work commitments of the year.
The children’s imagination is rich and their desires are diverse, the post office says. Spiderman team, creative dog patrol kit, little newborn baby crib with glowing balls, robot, glowing drawing board, masked dolls, dinosaurs, ninja team, medical kits, talking kitten, sponge bop and toys with all sorts of cartoon characters are among the wishes of the kids. Sometimes they ask the old man for a pet – a dog, a kitten, a hamster and even a little pony.
There are kids with very modest wishes, as well as others who send a long list – for home, for grandma, for mother, for father and all family members, Rancheva laughs.
Another vivid memory over the years has left the letter of a blind child sent in Braille. “It simply came to our notice then
paint brushes
from the tail of
squirrel
This wish seemed quite exotic and unreal to us, but it turned out that there really are such special brushes. We contacted the school for the blind to have the letter translated. There they remembered who the child was, we informed the parents and they provided these brushes “, says Diana Rancheva
“Sometimes we commit more than our duties require, but we do it only to make children’s dreams and desires come true,” she added.
The post office reminds that there are no restrictions on what the children’s letters will look like. Whether they will be handwritten or accompanied by handmade surprises remains a personal decision of the kids.
For relatives abroad – packages with bacon, spices and costumes
Bacon, topped with leeks and cumin, homemade sausages and sausages – this is most often contained in the parcels that Plovdiv residents send to their loved ones abroad. These products are resistant to transportation and have greater durability.
“I also put some crushed savory. The Bulgarian one is different “, says a pensioner, while signing the shipment. “They can’t just help me with money. I also have to take into account “, said the shrunken woman.
Most parcels contain mostly food. Prunes, roasted peppers, pastry crusts, pickled cheese in a box, walnuts – everything that the Bulgarian puts on the table for Christmas Eve.
Often in the shipments there are Bulgarian flags, CDs with folk music, sometimes books and all sorts of objects with national symbols, with which our people mourn. During the holidays, most people felt nostalgia for their homeland. That is why their relatives try to bring them a kind of little joy.
“Your package is very big. What’s in it? ”An employee turned to an elderly man. “Road sign,” he replied. The woman across the street couldn’t believe it. It turned out to be child’s play.
Since the Kovid pandemic, parcel shipments have become even more intense abroad, according to postal officials. “This is also related to the growing number of Bulgarians who have gone abroad in recent years,” explained the postman with many years of experience. Very often there were medicines in the packages – for blood, nasal drops, antibiotics, vitamins, even bandages.
Some also contained Bulgarian costumes, which are probably used by dance ensembles, which are already available in many places around the world.
Most shipments go to Germany, Spain, Britain, the United States and Canada, Austria, Belgium, France and Italy.
All must be open for inspection by a customs officer. In Plovdiv, the representative office of the post office abroad is located in the Trakia district at 40 Osvobozhdenie Blvd. Anyone who wants to send a parcel and a gift to their relatives must first carefully check on our website which goods are prohibited for export, so that there is no trouble “, reminded by” Bulgarian Posts “.
