A 12-year-old boy from Colorado, USA, has died after he lost consciousness 19 days ago.
Joshua Haileyesus’ family believe that their boy took part in the so-called “Blackout Challenge”.
This life-threatening “online competition” encourages children and young people on TikTok and YouTube to film themselves holding their breath or gagging themselves until they pass out.
Joshua’s family told the American broadcaster CBS4 that they wanted to shake up other families with the stroke of fate they suffered – and prevent them from suffering the same suffering.

“I could never have imagined that my son would do something like that”, said Joshua’s father Haileyesus Zeryihun, according to CBS.
Joshua fell into a coma and died Tuesday after 19 days of life support.
