12 to 1 – British analysts reveal new facts about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine

Courageously, without clear objectives, with empty weapons, but still crushing against the Ukrainians: this is how the British Royal Joint Services Institute (RUSI) describes it in its just published study of Russia the beginning of the war of aggression in Ukraine in February of this year. However hostilities will develop in the future, Ukraine in any case, the country will remain independent and will not capitulate, but at the moment it is impossible to predict when and how the war will end, admits one of the authors of the study in an interview with the Delphi portal.

One of the main points of the Russian plan was to gain control of Ukraine’s heating, electricity supply and financial systems, which would allow it to subjugate the hostile Ukrainian population without a fight. The Russians planned that Special Task Force soldiers would succeed in capturing Ukraine’s power plants, airports, water supply companies, central bank and critically important parliament.

The blitz failed

A little more than a week was allotted for the entire operation: already on the 10th day, Russia planned to begin “stabilizing” the situation, that is, the encirclement and destruction of certain units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

After the rapid war, the Russian counterintelligence services planned to divide all residents of the occupied territories of Ukraine into four groups: the first group included the most active participants of the 2014 Revolution of Dignity, or Euromaidan, which were supposed to be physically destroyed . The second group included disloyal Ukrainians who should be influenced and intimidated. These people would be methodically selected and sent to filter camps in Russia, while Russian teachers would come to Ukraine and “re-educate” the Ukrainians. The third group consisted of neutral citizens with whom the Russians hoped to cooperate, and the fourth group consisted of potential collaborators.

The plan was to create a group of Ukrainian MPs accepting the occupation “Peace Movement” that would encourage others to join them
