12 Causes of Chest Pain in the Middle

Chest pain is one of the conditions that triggers many people to come to the emergency room (UGD). Chest pain can vary widely, ranging from the type of pain that appears and other accompanying symptoms.

1. Heart attack

A heart attack occurs when there is a blockage in one or more of the arteries that supply blood to the heart muscle. This condition can cause excruciating pain.

2. Angina

Angina occurs when the blood supply to the heart is drastically reduced. This fairly common condition often includes a feeling of pressure in the chest, pain elsewhere in the upper body, and dizziness.

Some types of angina occur when a person is physically active, which makes the heart pump blood harder than usual. While other types of angina can appear at any time, including when someone is relaxed. Angina is the last one that needs serious attention because it can increase the risk of heart attack.

3. Inflammation of the heart

In some cases, chest pain is associated with inflammation of the heart, either in the muscle area (myocarditis) or the thin, watery sac that surrounds the heart (pericarditis). Both can be caused by viral and bacterial infections.

In myocarditis, chest pain generally appears on a mild scale, a feeling of pressure in the chest, swelling in the legs, and heart palpitations.

While the pain in pericarditis will feel sharp like a heart attack, which usually starts in the middle. This pain sometimes radiates to the back.

4. Cardiomyopaths

Cardiomyopathy is a thickening or thinning of the heart muscle. This condition affects the heart’s ability to pump blood.

People with cardiomyopathy will experience chest pain after eating or exercising. Symptoms are usually accompanied by shortness of breath after physical exertion, swelling in the legs, and heart palpitations.

5. Emboli lung

Pulmonary embolism is a condition where blood clots in an artery located in one of the lungs. This condition makes it difficult for the sufferer to breathe suddenly.

Chest pain in pulmonary embolism will feel like a heart attack. Pain will get worse when a person does physical activity.
