12 broadcasts in one room. How did the new Latvian Television News Studio become? / Script

From now on in a new visual format and excellent HD quality! The programs of the Latvian Television News Service have undergone significant changes, they are all now being created in one place – in the new News Studio.

The LTV team and invited experts, who have worked side by side, talk about the creation of the studio.

The scenography of the studio was created by scenographers Maija Jansone and Valters Kristbergs: “We knew we wanted screen walls – that was the starting point. Then the schemes were made, the character began to take shape, we gradually dressed it all up in a visual message. ” Valters Kristbergs emphasizes that “The news service is one big muscle, but it was necessary to separate each program in the room”.

“We understood that in order to make visual changes quickly, we need to work with light – built-in light decorations. That’s why the studio uses kilometers of wired and LED light – the console director and light artist can quickly switch, creating a whole new identity and feeling. Entering the studio, it might seem that everything is gray and dark, but with light in a few seconds we create an atmosphere: “Morning panorama” has its own feeling, “Panorama” and “Night news” – completely different. Let the viewer turn on the TV in the morning and not feel like in the evening. And vice versa.”

The studio combines all the news produced by the LTV News Service – “Morning Panorama”, “Day News”, “Panorama”, “Night News”, also “Sports News”, “Weather News”, “Cultural News” and broadcasts: “Today’s Issue” , “De facto”, current interview “One on One”, “Forbidden Technique” and “Panorama of the World”.

LTV News Service director Liene Žeimunde: “Each News Service program has its own mission and way of presenting information. We tried to adapt and transform the studio so that the different style and handwriting already familiar to the audience would be preserved. Of course, special thought must be given to the way information is presented, to the visual and technological solutions, but the basis of the information itself is the information itself. The main thing for any program created by the News Service is the content, its reliability. ”

Technically, the studio is divided into zones, the most important is the “Panorama” table seven meters long – a fixed unit, one size.

The studio has special single-span screens without seams, slightly bent at the edges. Director Liene Žeimunde: “In order to present information transparently, show info graphics and other visual materials, such screens are an absolute necessity in modern television.”

Creating a studio has been a big challenge for the LTV team. Ervīns Zgirskis, Director of the Audiovisual Equipment Department of LTV: “In order to operate everything, the studio has control systems, a lot of lighting technologies, therefore everyone, including operators, has to work according to very clear rules. The whole studio is one big tool, you have to work with it wisely! ”

“I hope that the audience will find LTV news more pleasing to the eye, more comfortable and we will have the opportunity to present it more fully,” says Liene Žeimunde. She is joined by scenographer Valters Kristbergs: “I really want the viewer to turn on the news and watch to the end. I hope that this visual added value created by the new study framework will allow not only to listen to information in the background, but also to see the means of expression. ”
