12 albums have been nominated for the “Austra Award 2021”

Twelve albums have been nominated for the Austras Prize 2021 music award this year, and the winner will be announced on June 16.

According to the representative of the event organizers Normunds Vucāns, taking into account the restrictions caused by the pandemic, this year the “Austra Prize” was postponed from mid-November to the beginning of summer, while starting from 2022 it is planned that the award ceremony will take place around May 4.

As this year all the albums created by Latvian or Latvian musicians released between October 19, 2019 and February 28, 2021 were eligible for the award, this time the circle of nominees has been expanded from the usual ten records to twelve.

Singer Alice Joste’s record “Shakata”, hip hop artist’s ancha album “Big Art”, musician Arturs Skuteelis’ record “Avalanche”, music producer “Domenique Dumont” album “People On Sunday”, group “Lakes” were nominated for the “Austrian Award” in 2021 record “Salt”, album “Dialogue” of the association “Kasetes”.

The “Recent” project “It will be long”, the musician Sign Libra’s album “Sea to Sea”, the group “Stūrī zēvele” album “Labvakar”, the group “Tesa” record “Control”, the album of hip-hop artist Ūga “LG is HH”, the group “Židrūns” album “Kovārņu grandborns”

As in previous years, this year the jury will select one winner from the twelve nominated albums, who will receive a cash prize of 1,000 euros to promote further activities from the Latvian Association of Performers and Producers (LaIPA).

This year, the “Austrian Award” will be presented for the sixth time, and it has previously been received by musician Alise Joste, the groups “Rīgas modes”, “Satellites LV”, “Polifauna” and “Tribes of the City”.
