As a result of conducting the 7th full investigation of the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) at the eastern detention center in Seoul, 12 additional prisoners were confirmed. It was the second two-digit number following the sixth total survey.
According to the Ministry of Justice on the 9th, a total of 574 people were examined in the 7th total survey conducted on the 8th at the Dongbu Detention Center, and as a result, 12 prisoners, including 11 men and 1 woman, were confirmed.
Separately, one employee who was separated by close contact and was in self-quarantine was confirmed, and a total of 13 additional confirmed cases were counted.
The 7th full test was conducted on detainees who were tested negative in the last 6th test. It was reported that the staff was not included.
This is the first confirmed case of a female detainee in the eastern detention center. Previously, it was not included in the 6th total test because it was negative in the 1st to 5th tests, but one confirmed case was found in the 7th total test.
In consultation with the quarantine authorities, the detention center decided to end the gene amplification (PCR) test for the purpose of tracking the infection route for female prisoners every three days, and to perform the test once a week for prevention purposes.
According to the Ministry of Justice, as a result of the total inspection of 45 correctional institutions by this day, 13,334 employees and 43,096 prisoners were negative.
517 employees and 1537 prisoners were additionally tested at two correctional institutions, including Jeonju Prison, and all were negative.
As of 6 pm on that day, a total of 1223 people were diagnosed with corona in correctional facilities nationwide. Of these, except for those who were released from quarantine, the number of confirmed prisoners was 1038, 29 employees, and 111 prisoners.
The number of confirmed detainees by institution was 666 in the eastern detention center in Seoul, 333 in the North Gyeongsang Province 2 prison, 16 in Gwangju prison, 17 in Seoul southern prison, 1 in Seoul detention center, 3 in Gangwon North prison, and 2 in Yeongwol prison. 19 people were released from quarantine at the Eastern detention center.
