Funding to the Association of Wiener Konzerthausgesellschaft
Vienna (OTS / RK) – GR Dr. Gerhard Schmid (SPÖ) recalled that it was a kick-off event for the cultural summer 2021: The open air on July 3rd was something “very, very special”, with special interpreters for music and lyrics of the “Ode to Joy” and show cosmopolitanism, stand for the European idea and the solidarity that is lived in Vienna.
Funding to the Institute for Cultural Studies Association (IKUS)
GR Stefan Berger (FPÖ) criticized the intention of the trade union federation ÖGB to have part of its own film stock digitized at the taxpayer’s expense. He identified a close relationship between the project applicant and the SPÖ and related organizations such as the Association of Social Democratic Academics (BSA). This – the project applicant – is also active in other associations that have been “generously” funded by the City of Vienna. The SPÖ should finance the processing of its own history itself, said Berger in the direction of the SPÖ; He made the NEOS responsible for criticizing corresponding funding applications a year ago – now as the ruling party they would be silent. In any case, the FPÖ will reject the application.
GRin Mag. Dr. Ewa Samel (SPÖ) countered: The project would not only deal with the history of the SPÖ, but also that of “the whole country”. Newly found film roles in the ÖGB with explanatory films and newsreels would be processed, scientifically processed and made available to a broad audience online as part of the funded project.
Conclusion of a contract with WH Digital GmbH for services within the scope of the international activities of the City of Vienna for the years 2022 to 2026
GR Markus Ornig, MBA (NEOS) was pleased that another part of the city’s media and communication agendas – keyword foreign offices – would be solved “in house”, which among other things also meant savings, with the same good performance.
GR Dipl.-Ing. Martin Margulies (Greens) criticized the fact that the contract would be concluded for longer than two years – he assumes that in the next few years with the federal government in financial equalization with the states “every euro must be fought” if the economic situation changes worsened. He submitted a motion in which Margulies demanded that the contract be concluded for only two years.
GRin Mag. Laura Sachslehner, BA (ÖVP) rejected the contract because the criteria were “non-transparent” and the paper would be concluded for several years. She criticized the high expenditure for advertisements by the City of Vienna, at the same time the Grätzelmedien and small district newspapers were excluded from the “cornucopia” of the City of Vienna. She introduced a motion in which she called for greater funding and support from the district media.
GRin Katharina Weninger, BA (SPÖ) emphasized the relevance of the support of Eurocomm-PR in communication and the network of foreign offices. This network would have been particularly useful during the crisis. Even in the lockdown, Vienna remained an important information hub in Europe. In order to present Vienna as an international, cosmopolitan city and science location, it needs a long-term horizon and thus long-term contracts, countered Weninger to the previous speaker from the Greens.
Additional agreement in addition to the existing financing and cooperation agreement on the planning, ordering and processing of local and regional public transport services by rail in the federal states of Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland (eastern region)
GR Wolfgang Seidl (FPÖ) announced that he wanted to agree and introduced a motion to lift the curfew.
GRin Yvonne Rychly (SPÖ) emphasized the importance of the performance of “the oldest private railway”, which could look back on a long history. The connection enables day commuters to come to Vienna – and Viennese to go shopping in Parndorf in an environmentally friendly way.
Special donation to the Vienna Employee Development Fund to finance the program to secure skilled workers – apprentice package
GR Mag. (FH) Jörg Konrad (NEOS) said: The situation on the labor market and in companies is tense, and young people in particular are affected by the slump in the labor market. With the waff package, Viennese apprentices are to be accompanied up to their final apprenticeship exam, an apprenticeship exchange is to be established and the training network for inter-company training in the hotel and catering industry is to be extended. Training companies receive up to 3,000 euros in support for training apprentices – especially companies in the leisure and tourism industry, where the costs for apprentices in the first year of apprenticeship are covered. There should be further subsidies for companies that take on an apprentice for the first time.
GR Ömer Öztas (Güne) said that around 10,000 young people are unemployed in Vienna – everyone is one too many. The Greens would approve the apprenticeship package; In Austria there are not only inequalities in the education system, but also in the labor market – young people who cannot organize an apprenticeship through contacts with their parents need special support, demanded Öztas.
GR Benjamin Schulz (SPÖ) reported on “many conversations with young people”: They feared for their jobs after their apprenticeship exams or even during their training. The City of Vienna is taking several measures to secure training places for young people in Vienna. While the number of training places is falling in other federal states, there are more training places in Vienna. He emphasized important elements of the apprenticeship package, including the promotion of companies that take on apprentices; There are special subsidies for companies with training in the tourism and hotel sectors – those sectors that are particularly hard hit by Corona. In addition, Vienna aims to motivate new companies to take on apprentices who have not previously done so. Schulz thanked the waff, who will implement the package “quickly and reliably”: “With this training package we support companies and secure the skilled workers for tomorrow!” (Cont.) Ato
