117 Mining Companies in Jakarta Fail to Deposit State Revenues, Minister Calls for Immediate Action

Jakarta

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif confirmed that as many as 117 mining companies had not made deposits in the form of non-tax state revenues (PNBP). He asked these mining companies to immediately fulfill their obligations.

“PNPB, yes, the rules must be like that, we ask for it to be paid immediately, so that all requirements are met,” said Arifin at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Jakarta, Friday (5/1/2024).

Asked about sanctions, Arifin said that if the company does not deposit PNBP it will experience difficulties in the Mineral and Coal Information System between Ministries and Institutions (Simbara).

“Yes, the sanction is that the Simbara is stuck,” said Arifin.

For your information, the government launched Simbara on March 8 2022 in order to improve the guidance and supervision of the mineral and coal (minerba) trade system.

Quoted from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources website, at that time Arifin said that the Simbara application was an application for monitoring PNBP and mineral and coal trading systems. This application is also a series of mineral and coal management processes from upstream to downstream, including fulfilling payment obligations and the clearance process at the port.

“As is known, this application is a series of processes from upstream to downstream, namely the mining planning process, refining processing, and sales of mineral and coal commodities, as well as its relation to fulfilling state revenue payment obligations and clearance to ports,” said Arifin.

Arifin also explained that Simbara was launched to support synergy between business processes and the flow of mineral and coal funds between ministries/institutions. With the development of Simbara, the shipping process and monitoring compliance with Domestic Market Obligation (DMO) can be carried out optimally.

“Through good coordination from all parties, to realize the effectiveness of supervision and optimization of state revenues, Simbara is here to support the synergy of business processes and the flow of mineral and coal funds between ministries/agencies. Through the development of this system, the single submission system facility for the shipping process becomes more practical “, fast and accountable. With the existence of Simbara, monitoring of compliance with DMO by business entities can be carried out more optimally and at the same time curbing illegal mineral and coal trade by business actors, both as producers and intermediary traders, which can result in leaks in state revenues,” he explained. .
