11,200 HPV Vaccine Doses Stolen: Loss of 40 Million Pesos

A batch of 11,200 doses of the Human Papillonavirus (HPV) vaccine was stolen from the Tabasco Health Secretariat while it was being transported for distribution, a loss that would amount to almost 40 million pesos, according to the unit cost. of the biological in private hospitals.

It was the same head of the agency, Silvia Roldán Fernández, who announced that last week, the automotive unit in which the biological was transported was the subject of a robbery, this when it was traveling towards the municipality of Cárdenas on one of the highways. state.

It is known that subjects aboard motorcycles stripped the driver of the tanker vehicle and his belongings, for which a criminal complaint was filed with the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE).

Given what happened, the Tabasco Health Secretariat has initiated an investigation with the opening of a folder CI-FRV-451/2023 in relation to the theft of the unit, which was finally recovered, but not the 11,275 doses of the HPV vaccine.

Silvia Roldán assured that despite this incident, the vaccination day for underage girls has not stopped and will continue until December, pointing out that the federal government has been requested to replace the doses of the stolen biological.

It is important to note that the HPV vaccine costs around 3,500 pesos in private hospitals, so the losses due to the theft of 11,200 doses would amount to 39 million pesos.
