The Central and West Brabant safety region warns about smoke nuisance on Thursday morning around 7 a.m. due to a fire at a paper recycling company on Bosstraat on the Borchwerf industrial estate in Roosendaal. A fire broke out at the company on Wednesday night. This is now under control, but the fire brigade is still working to put out the fire. This can cause a lot of white smoke.
If you are bothered by the smoke, the safety region recommends closing windows and doors and turning off the ventilation. Around seven o’clock the wind turns in all directions. Employees of companies on the Borchwerf and residents around the railway can therefore be affected by the smoke. It concerns the area of Gewenten, Borchwerf, Bosstraat, Stepvelden, Hoge Bergen up to the Galstelseweg. The disruption could last for several hours.
The first report of the fire to the recycling company came just after half past three. The fire raged in one of the sheds in a paper processing machine and in two paper bales weighing a total of about 1,000 kilos. According to the safety region, the fire master has not yet been given around 7:00 p.m. “First, the paper bales have to be pulled apart and carefully extinguished,” she says.
