In a shed near a house in a residential area in Bergen op Zoom and at another location in the city, the detective seized hundreds of liters of acetone and methanol on Monday afternoon. This was announced by the police this morning. These are highly flammable liquids that can be used for the production of hard drugs.
A 29-year-old man from Bergen op Zoom was also arrested on Monday in connection with the find. According to the police, he would have stolen the acetone from his work, among other things. His employer reported this, after which the police started an investigation. The source of the methanol is still under investigation.
The police seized the items and the arrested man is still in custody. The municipality is considering whether the house where the hazardous substances were found should be closed.
