11.10pm: Burned barn in Veendam
On the Nedmagweg in Veendam, a completely burnt down barn in the late Sunday evening. Not long after the barn caught fire, the firefighters were on site, but to no avail.
It is not known what caused the fire.
22.00: Lutjegast’s roof catches fire
The roof of a house on the Abel Tasmanweg in Lutjegast has caught fire. It’s a shed at the back of the house. The Grootegast firefighters immediately went to the scene and quickly kept the fire under control.
Firefighters will investigate if the roof section contains asbestos.
19.20 Scooter rider injured after falling into the Bedum ditch
A scooter ran into the Ellerhuizerkleiweg in Bedum. The driver was injured. The victim was treated in an ambulance and taken to hospital.
The exact nature of the injuries is unknown. The police took care of the scooter.
5.45pm: Fire in an empty building in Winschoten
A fire broke out in an empty building on Meester DU Stikkerlaan in Winschoten. About a year ago a fire broke out in the same building.
It is a dilapidated building in the so-called Blaauw locality in Molenstad.
Firefighters promptly kept the fire under control. It is not yet known how the fire broke out.
15.05: The cyclist is injured after colliding with another cyclist in Sappemeer
A cyclist fell and was injured in the Noorderstraat in Sappemeer. The man overlooked a cyclist turning in front of him, after which the two cyclists collided with each other. The man was taken to the hospital.
The exact nature of the injuries is not yet known.
13.55: Scoop motorcyclist motorist in Ter Apel
At the intersection of Drenthweg and Nomdenweg in Ter Apel, a motorcyclist was kicked by a motorist on Sunday afternoon.
The motorcyclist was injured. In addition to two ambulances, the traumatized helicopter also arrived on site.
11.20: Injured cyclist in collision with motorist in Sappemeer
A motorist and a cyclist collided on Sunday morning at the Kleinemeersterstraat and Touwslager intersection in Sappemeer.
The latter was injured. Nothing is known about the nature of the injuries.
10.05: The driver hits a tree and stops just before the ditch
On Sunday morning a driver lost control of the steering wheel on the Zevenhuisterweg between Nieuw-Roden and Zevenhuizen. The car went off the road, then crashed into a tree and finally stopped just before a back ditch.
The air ambulance was called, but could soon be canceled again. The two occupants managed to get out of the car by themselves. They no longer had to go to the hospital.
9.55: Swimming woman robbed of belongings
A woman who did a few laps on Saturday afternoon at the Stadsstrand near the DOT was robbed of her belongings. According to the police on social media, this must have happened between 5:30 pm and 6:00 pm.
“In the meantime, a person took her phone, earphones and keys,” police said.
05.30: Oldambtster with drink must hand over the driving license
Oldambt police recovered two drivers’ licenses last night. A 21-year-old novice pilot detonated 465 ugl and was the first to lose his piece of paper. This also happened to another pilot who detonated 595 ugl.
1:00 am: The garden shed in Appingedam goes up in flames
A garden shed on Hertoginnelaan in Appingedam went up in flames last night. There was no help left for the fire brigade. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
