An accident occurred on the Veldmaarschalk Montgomerylaan near the Gildelaan. A man aboard a disabled scooter was hit while crossing the street. The man was thrown several meters away and ended up a little further down the road. A 112 correspondent said he suffered severe head injuries.
Two ambulances and a helicopter rescue were called. The victim was transported to the hospital by ambulance. The road is closed and the police are investigating the incident.
