20:36 – The Beneluxtunnel in the direction of Bergen op Zoom will be closed until Monday morning

The Beneluxtunnel on the A4 will be closed from this Friday evening at 21:00. This only concerns the right-hand tunnel tube, in the direction of Bergen op Zoom. The closure of the tube is due to preparations for work on the tunnel. It will be open again on Monday 23 January at 05:00.

A young magnet fisherman in Maassluis fished a firearm out of the ditch. This happened on the Weverskade, reports WOS.nl. The boys, estimated to be 16 to 17 years old, spoke to the victim who had just come out of the subway around 5:40 p.m. He crossed the street and the three tried to rob him of his things. That does not work immediately, so one of the boys takes a knife and tries to stab the victim. There is no more than material damage to his coat. In the end, things were not stolen. The police are still investigating the incident.

The police in Dordrecht arrested a man on Thursday who allegedly punched two officers in the face. The man was noticed around a quarter past nine in the morning when he was driving without a helmet near the Randweg and the Laan der United Nations. When officers confronted the driver, a female officer was punched in the face. She fell and sprained her ankle. Then a struggle ensued between the aggressive man and the male officer. He also got punched in the face. The scooter rider then fled on foot. Officers who rushed to the scene were able to apprehend the man afterwards.

The man was arrested in his own home on Tuesday. The Syrian is suspected of having been security chief of IS between 2015 and 2018, and before that time of another terrorist organization, Jabhat-al-Nusra. He is therefore also suspected of war crimes in Syria.
