Traffic on the A4 motorway from Rotterdam to Bergen op Zoom had a very long evening rush hour. Due to an accident at the Bergen op Zoom-Zuid exit, there was a 4-kilometer traffic jam at half past six, with a delay of up to an hour at one point. At that time, only one lane was available between Steenbergen and Bergen op Zoom-Zuid.
Rijkswaterstaat predicted that the cleaning work would last until at least a quarter past seven. Only then could the whole road be cleared. The work took a little longer, but by eight o’clock the blockage was cleared and the traffic jam cleared up in no time. At least three cars were involved in the accident. One of the vehicles overturned.
