5.45pm: Car hits a tree near Veendam
A car hit a tree on the N33 near Veendam heading towards Meeden. Emergency services are on site to take care of the victim. It is not clear how the accident happened.
17.25: Accident between car and cyclist in Delfzijl
A collision between a car and a cyclist occurred on Fivellaan (N997). The cyclist was injured. Emergency services are present and the police are investigating the cause of the accident. The road is closed for the confrontation.
4.50pm: Two crashes in the city center within fifteen minutes
A delivery scooter driver has fallen on the Grote Markt near Greving & Greving in Groningen. Emergency services arrived at the scene to render aid. Less than fifteen minutes later, a van and a cyclist collided in the Herestraat. Traffic is affected by both accidents.
16.15: Man missing from Zuidhorn

A scooter and a cyclist collided this afternoon on the Goudlaan in the city of Groningen. Both drivers fell and sustained (minor) injuries. The cyclist was checked by the ambulance service and taken to hospital.
12.30: Donna gets trapped under the cherry picker
On the Jellemaweg in Zuidhorn, an 87-year-old cyclist was trapped under a cherry picker. The victim was seriously injured, police said. The aerial work platform was used for tree pruning work on the street. Several emergency services were called to the scene. According to a 112 photographer, the woman has now been removed from under the cherry picker and taken to hospital. The police are investigating the cause of the accident.
12.00: Police share pictures of scammer
Police are looking for a man who made purchases worth thousands of euros in Stad on Wednesday 21 September with a stolen credit card.
On that Wednesday in September, a 64-year-old woman from the municipality of Aa en Hunze was persuaded to hand over her credit card and PIN codes to someone posing as a bank employee. Within a short time debit cards were used in several places, including thousands of euros in shops around the city.
The suspect is distinguished by his shoulder bag and blue cap, according to the police report. First he’s seen in a phone store, then he buys four laptops and then he’s seen in a jewelry store, where he shops. Within a few hours, the suspect withdrew more than 17,000 euros from an ATM.
10.30: Annoying smell Het Hooge Heem Winsum
There was a smell in Het Hooge Heem. At first it was thought to be a gas smell, but it turned out to be something other than a gas pipe. Firefighters investigated the cause of the smell, but were unable to find it. The air probably comes from the ground. The situation has been reported to the municipality of Het Hogeland.

There was an accident between a car and a tractor on the Slochterdiep in Slochteren on Tuesday morning. The driver of the car, a 26-year-old man from the municipality of Midden-Groningen, was taken to hospital. Nothing is known about the causes of the accident.
