23.30: Men on suspicion of handling stolen goods arrested in Stad

In the city of Groningen, the police arrested two men aged 23 and 24 from Burgum on Friday evening on suspicion of handling stolen goods. “They wanted to sell Airpods and perfumes in the packaging on the street… for little money,” community police officer Siard Heinadus said on Twitter.

16.45: Leakage in a home in Stad

The fire brigade is on site at the Waterloolaan in Stad for a leak in a home. The water seeped into the street through several floors, according to a spokesperson for the fire service. It is not yet known how the leak started. It is known that a fire raged in the house in question in 2018.

15.50: Accident with two cars on N46 near Zuidwolde

A collision between two cars took place on the N46 near Zuidwolde. How the accident happened is still under investigation. One person was taken to hospital for a check-up, a police spokesman said.

2.30 pm: Police share photo and name of missing Pole

The police are still looking for the Polish man who has been missing for two days. That’s why his name and photo were shared today. It concerns 34-year-old Marcin Ludwik. He was last seen at 6 p.m. on January 18 at a farm on Jacob Tilbusscherweg in Rottum.

“He can be recognized by a large build, jeans, black polo with white accents, probably no shoes, possibly in possession of a sleeping bag,” the police said.

13.50: Three drug dealers arrested in City

The police arrested three suspects in Stad last night for dealing drugs. A quantity of drugs was also seized. One of these suspects was also arrested three months ago.

12.00: House fire in Selwerd

A fire broke out in a house in the Groningen city district of Selwerd at the end of Friday morning. A lot of smoke was released, as can be seen in photos. The fire brigade had the fire on Bottelroosstraat under control after a while. An investigation is currently underway into the cause of the fire. No one was hurt.

11.15: Collision on exit N370 in City

On the exit of the N370, towards the roundabout Jan Evert Scholtenlaan/Laan Corpus den Hoorn, two cars collided. A police spokesman said no injuries were reported in the accident. Both cars are towed.

10.00: Truck with beets overturned

A lorry with beets overturned in Zevenhuizen. Most of the beets ended up on an adjacent bicycle path. It is not yet known how the accident happened. The driver of the truck has been checked for injuries.

8.00: Accident with cyclist and car in Peize

An accident involving a bicycle and a car occurred on Friday morning at the intersection of De Horst and De Pol in Peize. According to bystanders, the cyclist was a student on his way to school. Police and ambulance were on the scene to provide assistance.
