A 22-year-old Rotterdammer was arrested on Wednesday evening after a wild chase through Tilburg. He is suspected of leaving an accident site. Earlier that evening, he crashed into a parked car on Pater Ruttenstraat. An officer saw it happen and saw that the driver and his co-driver had laughing gas balloons in their mouths.
When the officer approached them, the driver took off at high speed. During a mad ride on Goirkestraat, Ringbaan-Noord towards the Hasseltrotonde, among other things, he almost drove a cyclist upside down.
Several cars also had to avoid the man while he was driving 140 kilometers per hour on roads where 50 kilometers per hour is allowed.
Just before the Hassel roundabout, the man drove over the median strip and went ghost driving over the Hassel roundabout, via the Ringbaan-West to the Professor Cobbenhagenlaan. The man was arrested there by the police. They found a nitrous oxide cylinder, empty balloons and counterfeit money in his car.
The man has been arrested and is being questioned.
