Between Friday morning and Saturday morning, the coronavirus was diagnosed at 11,134 people. It is the third day in a row that the number of positive tests exceeds 11,000.
However, the number of new infections decreased slightly (-190) compared to Friday, when the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) registered 11,324 positive tests (adjusted from 11,363).
No new deaths have been reported since Friday.
Increase in hospitals continues
The increase in the number of corona patients in hospitals continues. 284 patients have now been admitted, nineteen more than Friday. The total number of corona patients admitted is the highest since the beginning of this month.
Fifty new patients ended up on the wards, one more than Friday. Five new patients ended up in intensive care units, according to figures from the National Coordination Center for Patients Spreading (LCPS). There are now 77 corona patients on the ICs, two more than Friday. In the nursing wards, the number of patients rose by 17 to 207, the highest number since Sunday, June 27, when there were more than 200 patients.
Because the number of positive tests has been increasing rapidly lately, the LCPS expects it to become busier in the ICUs and on the nursing wards in the near future.
