Upper Austria. The Covid “living room test” with a digital solution in Upper Austria is evidently well received: over 11,000 tests with QR codes were carried out within twelve hours.
With the so-called “living room test” with QR code is written on the digital test platform of the country selbsttest.ooe.gv.at a new option for antigen testing has been available since Wednesday, May 19. The IT system created by the state of Upper Austria for processing the living room tests was also offered to other federal states. So Styria and Tyrol in Upper Austria have applied for the IT system and are also relying on it.
“This test option is intended to make it even easier for citizens to get a test result quickly and unbureaucratically for the visits to the inn or other leisure facilities that are now possible again. We assume that this can be an attractive offer, especially for the younger ones. With the self-tests that have already started under supervision in the municipalities, we can also offer the older population in particular a test opportunity in close proximity, ”said Deputy Governor Christine Haberlander.
Regardless of time and place
To do this at home you need an internet connection and a device (smartphone) with a camera. The advantage is that, regardless of location and opening times, a self-test can be carried out at any time and the confirmation sent is recognized as admission. Self-tests including QR codes are provided by the state of Upper Austria and are available in packages of 20 in pharmacies upon presentation of the e-card.
Report positive result
From May 18, 7 p.m. to May 19, 2 p.m., more than 11,000 people registered their self-tests. “So far, ten positive results have been reported in the online tool. In this case, the person tested must contact the district administrative authority, ”explains the crisis team leader Carmen Breitwieser. “We can see that this online test option has been used by many since the early hours of the morning. Between 1,500 and 2,000 users are added every hour, ”says Breitwieser happily.
Pay attention to correct contact
So that the test result, which is normally transmitted within 15 minutes, actually arrives, we ask you to check the correctness of the email address or mobile phone number given. At the start there were small problems because some test confirmations could not be sent automatically because the wrong address or number was given.
30,000 registrations on test roads
Due to the opening steps that have been in effect since Wednesday, the interest in testing is of course generally high. For example, 30,000 people have already registered for the around 100 public test roads for May 19th. As early as May 18, the demand was very high, with over 34,000 tests carried out on the public test roads. The busiest day after the Easter holidays was recorded here.
