1100 kilos of cocaine among the bananas in the port of Rotterdam

In the port of Rotterdam, customs intercepted a batch of cocaine weighing 1100 kilos. If the drugs had been sold on the street, they would have yielded over € 82 million.

The coke was hidden in a container with a load of bananas from Ecuador. The container arrived last night by seagoing vessel via the port of Antwerp. It was intended for a company in Switzerland.

The case is being further investigated by the HARC team, a partnership of customs, FIOD, seaport police and the Public Prosecution Service. The drugs have since been destroyed.

Large consignments of drugs are regularly found in the port of Rotterdam.
