RKI reports 6,114 new corona infections for Germany | Incidence at 57.4
The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported 6,114 new corona infections early on Sunday morning. That was 29 percent or 2,502 cases less than on Sunday morning a week ago, when 8,616 new infections were officially published within one day. The 7-day incidence fell from 60.1 to 57.4 and is thus probably only a few days away from the 50 threshold, which, however, was reduced to 35 last week by the federal and state governments.
Overall, the institute currently assumes around 150,500 active corona cases with evidence, which is around 42,800 fewer than a week ago. The number of unreported cases is unknown, according to various experts it could be twice or up to seven times as high. In addition, the RKI now reported 218 deaths within 24 hours in connection with the virus.
There were 3,443 deaths within the last seven days, corresponding to an average of 492 deaths per day. On the previous day, this value was an average of 494 corona deaths within the last seven days. In the meantime, 3,477 Covid-19 patients were treated intensively in the intensive care units early on Sunday morning. At noon on Saturday it was 3,488.
