EL NUEVO DIARIO, WASHINGTON.- The Utah Jazz won their second game of the season 110-111 this Saturday on their visit to the San Antonio Spurs and despite Victor Wembanyama’s 24 points and 16 rebounds.
It was an even duel in San Antonio, with 16 alternations on the scoreboard and with a maximum difference of +9 for the Jazz and +6 for the Spurs.
An offensive foul by Wembanyama with 10 seconds remaining and with the Spurs down 3 condemned the Texan team.
The Spurs had time in those 10 seconds to score two triples, the last one at the buzzer, but they were of no use because the Jazz did not miss from the free throw.
For the Jazz (2-7), bottom of the Western Conference, Collin Sexton scored 23 points, Lauri Markkanen 20 and John Collins, who started the game on the bench, had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
In fact, the Jazz substitutes contributed 54 points, almost half of their team’s.
‘Wemby’ was the most outstanding of the Spurs (4-6) with his 24 points with 6 of 9 in triples and 16 rebounds, in addition to 7 blocks.
Stephon Castle scored 23 points and substitute Devin Vassell had 21. EFE
