Boy catches fish with human teeth in pond and the photos look terrifying
Charlie, an 11-year-old boy who lives in Oklahoma, United States, decided to fish in the pond behind his house in mid-July and although everything was going normally, he went into shock after a fish with teeth very similar to those of humans took his bait.
“He was yelling, ‘Oh my God, Mom! Oh my God!’ I thought he was just being dramatic, to be honest. Obviously, being in a neighborhood pond, we’re used to just catching some bass or catfish, I mean, nothing with human teeth,” Charlie’s mother Janna Clinton said in an interview with NPR.
The capture seemed so unreal to them that the woman decided to take pictures to prove that the animal really had teeth and after posting them in a group in her neighborhood on Facebook, they began to spread immediately.
All those who saw them were dismayed, because they could not understand that such a creature existed and that it was also found in the United States, where sightings of this type had not been recorded before.
Given the situation, the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation, through its Twitter account, explained on July 18 that the photos are legitimate and this animal is not a new species.
It is the Pacú fish, which is native to South America and a cousin of the piranha, lives in fresh water and feeds on both vegetables and insects. In addition, it is not dangerous for humans.
The government body put forward a possible theory about the arrival of this fish in the pond and that is that a person may have bought it as a pet, but in the end he threw it into the waterways once it grew.
“Do not release your pets, they are an exotic and invasive species that can cause damage to our local ecosystems,” was the message he posted in another tweet along with the photos of the fish.
Janna Clinton admitted that after documenting her find they released the fish in the pond because they thought it was the right thing to do, but after learning the information about the invasive animal they regretted their decision.
In fact, they tried to re-fish it for hours, but their efforts were in vain.
“If he catches it again, we’ll have him ride it. I think it’s a great prize and he deserves it, they’ll make the fish look like it’s smiling so its teeth can be seen,” was his final statement.
