1. Make sure the software is updated
The latest software often contains bug fixes and general improvements and can help your Android device run better. Software updates tend to come OTA (Over The Air) and you should automatically be prompted to install them.
You can check whether the software is updated or not, in the following ways:
- Go to Settings
- About device
- Software update
- check for updates
The same goes for apps, so launch the Play Store, go to the menu at the top left and tap My apps and make sure all the apps you use are up to date.
2. Clean the home screen
If you choose to use a moving wallpaper, consider replacing it with a static image.
You should also clean up unused icons and limit your widgets to the essentials. The less your home screen, the better for phone performance too.
3. Delete useless apps
Don’t let apps you never use, because they take up storage space which makes your phone sluggish.
Uninstall applications that are not used by:
- Go to Settings
- Application
- Swipe to the All tab
- Take a good look at the list and identify the apps you don’t want or need.
- Select the app, then delete or uninstall it.
4. Disable animations and themes
Some smartphone users like to use animation features and themes. This may look good, but it can slow down your Android operation.
Check in launcher usage to see if there’s a way to disable any of the add-ons that you deem unnecessary.
The features offered by the launcher are considered to slow down your device.
5. Clear app data cache
Cache data for apps will help your phone load faster, but that data can build up over time and take up quite a bit of space and there will likely be cached data for apps you no longer use.
Sometimes clearing cached data for an app can also help clear up unstable storage space.

- Application
- Swipe up the All tab
- Click the desired application and select Clear cache.
