11 People Died During Rituals on the Beach, This is the Regent of Jember

Jember Regent Hendy Siswanto visits the victims of the Payangan Beach ritual, Jember, who is being treated at the Ambulu Health Center. Hendy also saw the condition of the deceased who was still buried.

“Today, the residents of Jember are being hit by a disaster, at 1 o’clock this morning, who are members of the Tunggal Jati Nusantara Group, are victims of the waves rolled in Payangan Beach,” said Hendy as reported by the Antara news agency. detikJatimSunday (13/2/2022).

Hendy said he was concerned about the calamity experienced by 23 residents during a ritual at Payangan Beach, Sumberejo Village, Ambulu District. The regent admitted that he just knew there was a ritual group called Tunggal Jati Nusantara in the Jember area.

“We don’t understand what this ritual is? So that later those who are not victims (died), we will ask for details, what happened to this incident,” he said.

Considering that one of the survivors with the initials NH (35), a resident of Botosari Hamlet, Dukuhmencek Village, Sukorambi District, Jember, is the head of the ritual group.

So that later, said Hendy, it will be known what steps can be taken to deal with this problem.

“Thank God, from this incident, all of the 11 dead victims have been found. Maybe later an autopsy will be carried out and then handed over to the family,” he said.

For the next, continued Hendy, immediately buried the family.

Responding to similar cases, which are considered frequent in the Payangan Beach area, the Regent will take a religious approach. Coordinate with related OPD and religious leaders.

“So we will provide guidance to the surrounding community. To provide education and strengthen religious matters,” he said.

As an anticipatory measure in a tourist location that is known to be beautiful, also close to the Love Bay, Regent Hendy will coordinate with local village officials.

“Because what I know, in the morning there is no one to guard (tourist sites). Especially now is the season for big waves. So we urge tourists to obey the rules at tourist sites,” he said.

“Including when local residents have been reminded to be more careful. It is wiser to respect the appeal. Mr. Saladin (local caretaker) has warned not to do this activity. So please respect the appeal. Because of course it will also have an impact on the management local tourism,” he added.
