On Tuesday evening, the municipality states in a press release that 11 new cases of infection have been registered in Tromsø during the day.
Most cases of infection are close contacts of already known cases. Some of the new cases, however, have not yet been linked directly to other infected people, according to municipal chief physician Hilde Trandem.
– We now encourage everyone who has been to Heidi’s Bier Bar last Friday and Saturday to get tested, whether they have symptoms or not, says the municipal superintendent.
– We will also give a general encouragement that everyone who knows that they have symptoms of respiratory infection, get tested. There is coronary heart disease in the city now, and it seems to be spreading fast, she continues.
Close contacts with the infected are now contacted continuously. Parts of the municipality’s emergency preparedness team have been activated to assist with the tracking work.
– The tracking is a lengthy and time-consuming detective job. Close contacts the tracking team has been given will receive a phone call. If you know that you have been in contact with an infected person, you should stay at home and wait to be contacted – and test yourself for symptoms, says Per Harald Korsmo, head of the corona center.
In light of the ongoing outbreak, the test center at Sydspissen is open Wednesday-Friday from 09:00 to 21:00.
