Mid-May weekend, uncertain weather, a spring that is making itself desired but that does not demoralize Rome. The Capital, in fact, has many appointments scheduled for the weekend, dedicated to culture, entertainment and shopping. Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 May – which by the way is also Mother’s Day – Rome offers a schedule full of events that involve everyone.
The protagonist initiative of the weekend is the Night of the Museums 2023, the extraordinary opening of cultural places in the capital, from 8pm to 2am, at the symbolic cost of 1 euro. Space also for the typical dishes of Roman cuisine that become the protagonists of entire festivals and, again, vintage and hippie markets, concerts, street food, comics and much more.

The Night of the Museums
The Night of the Museums is an event that has taken place simultaneously throughout Europe since 2005. With a symbolic ticket of 1 euro (unless otherwise indicated) it is possible to visit, at unusual times, the most beautiful cultural centers of the city. The capital is therefore preparing to welcome the new edition of the Night of Museums 2023 which will see the opening of 80 spaces with 60 exhibitions and a calendar of around 130 shows, as well as guided tours and educational activities for all ages. From civic to state museums, to universities and academies. The Senate of the Republic, the Chamber of Deputies, the Ministry of Defense and many other places of culture in Rome can also be visited. Mother’s Day events
Sunday 14 May is also Mother’s Day and Rome is planning a series of events to celebrate all Roman mothers in a special way. “Moms from film” arrives at Cinecittà World, “Viva la mamma” at the Castle of Santa Severa. At MagicLand mothers enter for free, at the Fantastic World of the Fantastic they become “the most beautiful in the realm”. Space also for shopping and handicrafts to make a special gift. Carbonara and Amatriciana Festival
Amatriciana or Carbonara? Which of these Roman first courses do you prefer? You can decide or confirm it this weekend at Eataly. On the third floor of the large market in Piazzale XII Ottobre 1492, from Friday 12 to Sunday 14, you can taste different versions of the two famous Roman recipes. At Ercoli 1928 you can taste the fresh Maccheroncini all’amatriciana and the fresh Mezze Maniche rigate alla carbonara; from Flavio Al Velavevodetto the timeless Rigatoni alla carbonara; Pastificio Secondi will offer its Ravioli stuffed with ricotta with amatriciana sauce and pecorino with marc and those filled with cheese and egg with crispy bacon. Vintage market
The Vintage Market returns to the Ex Deposito Atac in Piazza Ragusa on 13 and 14 May for the last, unmissable event of the season. There will be 200 exhibitors from all over Italy, 6 thousand square meters (shared with the Farmer’s Market) and the usual assortment of exhibitors: Craftsmen, Artists and Illustrators, Vintage, Handmade, Home Decor, Design and Stylists, Vinyls and Books, Clothing, Games and books for children, Organic Cosmetics, Plants and Flowers, Upcycling, Collecting.
