“We have just learned with deep sorrow of the death of our friend Philippe Pozzo di Borgo. The adaptation of his story for the film “The Untouchables” (the Russian title is “1+1”) has changed our lives and the lives of many vulnerable and fragile people. We will keep in memory the image of a courageous, dignified, modest and warlike person. We will miss his sense of humor and intelligence. It has been an exceptional privilege to be with him all these years.” says in a statement from the filmmakers.

Philippe Pozzo di Borgo was born on February 14, 1951. In the 1980s and 1990s, he headed the French winery Pommery. In 1993, he survived a paragliding accident that left di Borgo paralyzed.

In 2001, the businessman published a book called Second Wind, in which he told how he got out of depression thanks to his assistant of Algerian origin, Abdel Sell. This story became the basis for the film “1 + 1” with Francois Cluzet and Omar Sy in the lead roles.
