Eleven fully vaccinated people have died in Dallas County from COVID-19.
In its daily report on the situation of infections and deaths in the county, the Dallas County Health and Human Services office reported on Thursday the contagion of 700 people who were already fully vaccinated.
Of these, 68 have been hospitalized in the intensive care areas of local hospitals. Another 11 people have lost their lives.
However, 93% of the infections recorded in recent weeks have been from unvaccinated people, the county said.
Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins asked people to continue to observe preventive measures to avoid further infections.
“With the official start of summer this weekend, temperatures will continue to rise and there will be more and more gatherings that will be indoors,” Jenkins said.
“If you are not vaccinated, you are still at risk of contracting COVID-19 and you must follow public health guidelines to stay as safe as possible when you are indoors with people who do not live in your home.”
56% of Dallasites have received at least one dose of the covid-19 vaccine. The cities with the highest vaccination rates are Coppell and Sunnyvale, with around 80% complete.
The county reported 103 new COVID-19 infections and three deaths Thursday.
Two of the deceased were in their 60s and one more in their 90s, all three with high-risk health conditions.
With these figures, the number of infections since the beginning of the pandemic is 261,990 and 4,106 deaths.
As the incidence of covid-19 decreases, more cases of other respiratory diseases continue to be reported: parainfluenza (19%); rhinovirus (24%); and respiratory syncytial virus (SVR) (12%), while the prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 is 3.7%.
