The former Manchester United manager personally informed the players who had not been selected via “FaceTime”.
The coach of the Dutch national team, Louis van Gaal, revealed that he found some players still “naked” in the video call.
Van Gaal announced the 26 Dutch players called up for the 2022 World Cup on Friday (11/11).
Before releasing the team, Van Gaal contacted each of the 11 players who were eliminated saying they had not been transported to Qatar.
But things didn’t go smoothly after the 71-year-old manager claimed some of his players weren’t dressed.
“It’s not easy to leave someone,” Van Gaal said at a press conference to announce the Oranje team.
“I spent 1 hour and 45 minutes on a video call with 11 players this morning. It’s not easy,” added the meneer.
“I also took into account the time difference with the players who played in England. I saw some players naked because they were still in bed.”
Man United midfielder Donny van de Beek and Newcastle defender Sven Botman were among 11 players left out of the Dutch final squad.
