A Frostpunk 2 does not yet have a release date, price, or age rating, but this does not prevent you from kinguint in distribution.
A Frostpunk 2was announced a week ago with a grim teaser, a brief synopsis of the new environment – no carbon, no oil – and no release date. The 11 Bit Studios warned that the game is still “pretty early in development” and are probably still very far from completion. However, this did not prevent the online retailer, the kinguinin that it can be “pre-ordered Steam CD keysat ”offer for sale, to which 11 Bit responded quite strongly when it called on fans to BORN buy these keys.
The keys are actually the G2A sells, which is part of Kinguin – the two merged in 2020 – and has a notice on both sides that the purchase is strictly pre-ordered and that the keys will only be received after the game is released, when it will be. The keys are currently available for $ 47 CDNin, which is about $ 40is perhaps not unreasonable, but it is completely arbitrary, given that the manufacturer has not even said any price for the game.
11 Bit Studios commented on this point in its response. “We don’t know the price of our game yet, there are no keys,” the studio tweeted. “Is there a NARROW FRAUD under the auspices of another FUCK, Kinguin, selling Frostpunk 2 for pre-order ?! Retweet and make noise to stop ”.
ANNOUNCEMENT!
We don’t know the price of our game yet, we don’t have any keys. Some SHITTY SCAMMER sells Frostpunk 2 on pre-order under umbrella of another CROOK Kinguin?!
Re-tweet & let’s make some noise to stop it. Media folks?@gameinformer @pcgamer @eurogamer @gamestar_de pic.twitter.com/sx7uX6sciq– Frostpunk 2 ❄ (@frostpunkgame) August 19, 2021
“As a further addition to our report on fraudsters – GO they have a rating while we don’t even know what we’re getting (!) and have embedded our trailer in the Epic Games Storeof, meanwhile They sell Steam keys on pre-order. We’re sorry, but it’s ridiculous. “
Just for the sake of order: the trailer says Frostpunk 2 will be available on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG. Kinguin is a “key reseller” that is essentially a digital marketplace where anyone can sell game keys. Resellers can be a little wild western: They provide an opportunity for people to earn a few dollars on excess keys, such as a Humble Bundle acquired in a package, but also open to less unscrupulous behavior.
G2A probably the most infamous from the group: they have been accused of fraud by studios like Gearbox, TinyBuild and Unknown Worlds, and other indie developers have gone so far as to ask the cheap ones to pirate their toys rather than buy them from a reseller (they can be quite bitter – ed.).
This particular situation is doubtful at best: The list says we’ll get the keys “when the game comes out,” but that will be years from now – even according to the creator of 11 Bit Studios – and since the price hasn’t been set, it’s very likely that people will end up paying more through Kinguin than if they went straight to Steam or Epic. It’s clearly aimed at taking advantage of people who don’t pay attention there or simply don’t know how it’s going these days.
“We used bitter words, but not without reason; technically they sell something that doesn’t even exist, ”wrote 11 Bit Studios in a statement. “Of course, we have access to the game in its current state for internal testing, but we do not generate any keyswhich can be sold, redeemed and which give players access to the game. “
“Most importantly, we haven’t even launched a pre-order campaign. This means that the false information that Kinguin publishes could cause a lot of trouble when Frostpunk 2 will be officially available for purchase. This may include any feedback to us regarding Kinguin pre-orders and Kinguin’s price of the game from the air, if our official pre-order price is different. We can also get complaints from people who have just bought those non-existent keys from Kinguin and then later have problems with whether they actually work. ”
It’s not a game country
11 Bit Studios said they want the whole industry to take action against this and they can try to get the Frostpunk 2 pre-order page deleted in the meantime. “But they’ll probably just be ignored as they do it with other games,” they said. “Any legal move can be extremely difficult because they are – probably for good reason – one Hongkongcompany registered in.
Branduin’s Acting CEO and Chief Financial Officer, Brandon Doerfler in its own statement issued on 19 August, it denied that the reseller had done anything wrong and said the listing had been amended to make it clearer that it was only a pre-order.
“We know there’s a lot of excitement around the upcoming release of Frostpunk 2 and we want to connect fans with dealers who offer the key,” Doerfler said. “We apologize for having unconfirmed information about Frostpunk 2 appearing on the Kinguin.net list. We have since removed this and made it clear to visitors to our site that the game is only available for pre-order, ”the CEO replied. Nevertheless, Frostpunk 2 Steam keys are still available online…
