Yesterday’s day, Thursday, November 30, 2023, will go down in history as the day when 108 deputies with their mafia, irresponsible and undemocratic vote sold the country and took another step to prevent the construction of democracy from being possible. The day will be remembered with several indicators of the well-known shame that the chamber has characterized. Upon learning of their corrupt intentions, the Board of Directors of the Congress of the Republic once again resorted to public forces to close several streets around their headquarters for days. Aware of their actions far from legality and legitimacy and with the fear that has characterized public demonstrations, they ordered the National Civil Police -PCN- to impose their public force in order to be able to give free rein to their coup actions in peace and quiet. at the service of the criminal President of the Republic, his romantic partner and other coup plotters. Paradoxically, the State body that claims to represent the interests of the Guatemalan people par excellence has been turning its back on them for some time and doing everything in its power to harm popular interests and benefit the privileges of a few.
During previous days, the deputies were preparing the stage. The Public Finance and Currency Commission chaired by deputy Cándido Leal of the ruling party Vamos, designed a proposal for the plenary session that will serve several purposes, the first of which is to prevent, limit and even hinder the work of the next Government, the second to pay favors to actors linked to corruption and who financed the electoral campaign of several deputies and ultimately benefit the interests of big capital. The General Budget of the Nation approved in a hurry last night is contrary to the human rights of the population and will mean another blow to their already deteriorated living conditions.
Complaints of purchases by male and female deputies, as well as bizarre figures for each man and one, marked the day. As if it were the headquarters of a criminal gang, there was talk of the purchase of votes for each deputy, the figures varied and grew, until reaching the figure of one million quetzales for each vote, which led to because less than twenty-five minutes before twelve midnight they managed to illegally and illegitimately approve the elimination of the pretrial proceedings against the judges of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal -TSE- and thereby continue on the path of the intended Coup d’état . Now the task will be to determine who were the actors who paid for the vote and that the full weight of the law and history falls on them.
It will be up to the People again to take to the streets and defend the vote they cast on June 25 and August 20, it will be up to them not to allow those who were angry against them yesterday to have any peace.
