1,070 new infections and active cases rise to 12,221

Active cases of coronavirus continue to rise in Galicia, and this Monday stands out for the enormous increase compared to last Monday, with 1,070 infections compared to 697 a week ago, the second highest number of this sixth wave in Galicia. More PCR tests than normal have been carried out (they come from Saturday), with a new maximum of positive results (13.72%), and infections are higher than usual in A Coruña, Pontevedra and Santiago de Compostela.

Hospital pressure increases today, with 1 more admitted to the ICU (49 in total) and 18 more on the ward (243 in total), passing the sum of those admitted in Galicia from 273 to 292, 55 more than last Monday.

By health areas, today none exceeds 300 cases, but three are above 200. In addition to Vigo (298) and Ourense (212), Pontevedra stands out with 205 new cases. In the rest of the areas, the increases in A Coruña (177 infections) and Santiago (83) are striking. In Vigo there are already 110 hospitalized, 20 of them in the ICU.
