According to the social authority, a total of 143,360 people in the Hanseatic city have tested positive for the corona virus since the beginning of the pandemic. According to estimates by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), 121,200 people in Hamburg can now be considered recovered.
Incidence reaches new high
The number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the past seven days rose again from 389.9 on New Year’s Day to 406.9 on Sunday – that is a new high. A week ago on Boxing Day, the incidence value was 354.4. The RKI points out that during the holidays and at the turn of the year due to a lower number of corona tests carried out and an increased delay in reporting, the current figures may only provide an incomplete picture of the current situation.
71 corona patients in the intensive care units
According to the social authorities, 235 corona patients are being treated in Hamburg’s hospitals as of Thursday. According to the DIVI intensive care register, there are 71 corona patients in intensive care units in the Hanseatic city, 7 more than the day before.
RKI: Hospitalization rate at 2.86
According to the RKI, the hospital numbers for Hamburg result in a hospitalization rate of 2.86 as of Thursday. The rate, which results from the number of hospitalized Covid-19 cases per 100,000 residents transmitted to the RKI within a seven-day period, is the basis for corona policy measures. If limit values 3, 6 and 9 are exceeded, the federal states can impose stricter measures to combat the pandemic. The stricter measures possible when limit value 3 is exceeded already apply in Hamburg.
