The total number is 244,915 infections and 4946 deaths. The fact that fewer new infections were reported than on the previous days may be due, among other things, to fewer tests and data transfers around New Year’s and New Year’s.

The so-called seven-day incidence nationwide was 128.8, a slight increase. The number indicates how many people per 100,000 inhabitants in a region contracted the coronavirus within a week. All 44 urban and rural districts in the southwest are above the value of 50, from which a district is considered a risk area. The majority of the districts have an incidence between 100 and 200. The incidence was highest in the Pforzheim district at 240.6.

According to data from the Divi intensive care registry, 630 patients are in intensive care in the southwest, as the authority further announced. 370 of them would be artificially ventilated. Around 86 percent of the 2397 intensive care beds that can currently be operated are occupied.
