NEW YORK – A 102-year-old man died of injuries sustained when his car and a Nassau County Police vehicle collided on Long Island last week, police said.
According to investigators from the Nassau County Police Homicide Unit, the incident occurred at approximately 8:23 a.m. Dec. 9 in Massapequa.
Investigators say the marked police vehicle was traveling southbound on Hicksville Road responding to an emergency call, when the driver of a northbound 2012 Hyundai Elantra attempted to make a left turn onto N. Suffolk Avenue.
The drivers of both vehicles were taken to area hospitals injured.
The driver of the Hyundai was later pronounced dead and identified as Morris Sprachman, 102, of Seaford.
