100th Hakone Ekiden: Section Entries, Analysis, and Predictions

The section entries for the 100th Hakone Ekiden to be held on January 2nd and 3rd, 2024 were announced on the 29th. The race is a 217.1km round trip with 10 sections. As with last time, changes to the number of regular competitors and substitute competitors on the day can be made up to 6 people, and the maximum number of people who can be changed in a day is 4. Changes will be accepted until 1 hour and 10 minutes before the start of the race. This article introduces the 13 schools that earned the right to participate in the preliminary round.

1st place in qualifying round Daito Bunka University

Daito Bunka University has qualified for the finals after finishing in the top spot for the second year in a row. The All-Japan University Ekiden has gained seeding rights for the first time in 18 years and is gaining momentum. Toru Kubota, who placed 2nd on the qualifying team, entered the 2nd ward. Shunsuke Kikuchi and Yuki Satake, who were in charge of the 5th and 6th wards in the last tournament, were placed in the same section this time as well.
